Spring Dance Inspiration 2008

Funds raised at our second annual performance, held April 26 and 27 at the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, surpassed that of the inaugural event, reaching a total of $41,000 that was directed to the "Patient Help Fund" of the National Brain Tumor Foundation.

Two days of passionate dance were provided by internationally renowned guest artists La Tania, who was accompanied by Jesus Montoya, Seaon Stylist, and Shabnam. We additionally enjoyed performances from Stuart Hall with the Boys Vocal Ensemble and Boys Chorus, as well as from several other San Francisco bay area artists.

All performers were spectacular, and generously contributed their time and talents in raising awareness of the brain tumor health problem. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we were entertained as well as inspired by Abbie Ackerman, a brain tumor survivor and a professional dancer who shared her story by performing "GLIO", and original composition. As guest speakers, we welcomed Susan M. Chang, M.D., Professor of Neurological Surgery, and Director of Neuro-Oncology at UCSF, and Margaretta Page, Clinical Nurse Specialist of UC Medical Center.

Spring Dance Inspiration 2007

In 2007, we raised over $36,000 in a two day gala, March 31 and April 1, at the Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco. Performaces by La Tania, Yoko Watanabe's Russian Original Ballet Theatre, and many other artists, were featured.

Coverage of the event was aired on Fox Television's "Ten O'clock News". Our inaugural event was successful beyond expectations, with the proceeds going entirely to the National Brain Tumor Foundation, whose fundraising initiatives provide support of brain tumor research, as well as support for the patients and families who are effected by this disease.
